About Vonda Hawkins

Vonda Vinson Hawkins

I started my teaching career in 1988 as a third grade teacher.  After that, I taught a combination seventh-eighth grade classroom.  My next job was sixth grade homeroom with fifth and sixth grade English classes.  After teaching elementary for seven years, I decided I really wanted to work with the Special Education students.  Since then I have taught  a lower elementary classroom, a multi-handicapped classroom, a middle school classroom, and a high school classroom.  This year I have the pleasure of teaching both Middle School and High School Special Education students.

I came to Woodland in 2006 as the High School Special Education Teacher.  I can honestly say that Woodland has the best students.  They are the most well behaved and respectful of any that I have worked with over the years.  Woodland students set goals and work hard to achieve those goals.  I am very proud of all our students and look forward to watching them grow and succeed.

I am the proud grandmother of two great Woodland students.  Kenny is in high school and very active in FFA and Student Council.  He is also attending Pioneer Technology Center and taking Concurrent Classes.  Olivia is at the elementary school and loves her teachers and friends.  She amazes us everyday with all her stories and energy.  I am thankful that they are a part of such an amazing school system.
