Hello! My name is Chris Jones. I thought I’d take a few minutes to let you know a little about myself. I was born in Stillwater, OK and graduated from Stillwater High School in 2002. After graduation, I enrolled at Oklahoma State University. In 2009, I earned my degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. In addition to the Secondary Education Major, I also acquired a minor in Philosophy.
Teaching and coaching has always been a passion of mine. During college, I volunteered as a youth football coach with the Stillwater Youth Football Association. I also spent one season as a volunteer coach with the Perry High School football Team.
In 2009 and 2010 I worked as a substitute teacher for the Stillwater and Perry School districts. In 2010, I became a full-time mathematics teacher for the Woodland School District, with five classes at the high school and one at the middle school. This school year will be my eighth year with the district. I will be teachering Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry and Calculus.
In addition to my interest in education, I have several other hobbies and activities that I am involved with outside of my occupation. I enjoy both art and music. I enjoy drawing, painting, and especially music. I learned to play the piano at an early age and later developed skills as a drummer and guitarist. I currently play the guitar, keyboard and sing with my rock band, Simpleton, which is based out of Stillwater. During the spring and summer, we travel and perform around Oklahoma and the surrounding states. We have also released two full length albums that are available in iTunes. In the future, I plan to acquire certifications in Art, Music, and History that will allow me to teach these interests in class in addition to the mathematics classes that I already teach.
